From the rear of the park pick up the path to Mortehoe, Bennett's Mouth and Lee Bay as well as Woolacombe. These paths are well trodden and offer breath taking views of the North Devon Coastline and countryside.
This is one of our favourite campsites. We came here with a trailer tent (in torrential rain) in August 2008 and this year with a caravan. The bathroom facilities are amazing and there is a family bathroom with baby changing facilities. There's a good playground, albeit not really for toddlers, and great takeaway and a laundry, although we didn't use that so can't comment. My husband tried his luck on the fishing lake - he wasn't successful but others around him were doing well.
The site's well located for the area and Woolacombe beach and there are some good pubs just down the road in Mortehoe too. The site is extremely well looked after and mostly the pitches are really private, although we requested a hardstanding pitch but didn't feel this was a wise choice as we were really tucked away and the pitches aren't very generous. We also didn't have any grassed area around/on our pitch to sit out on.
It still remains one of our favourite sites and deserves its five stars but we'll try to choose our pitch more carefully next time.
First Class Site and Service
Just returned from our first visit to this campsite and cannot fault it. Friendly staff always willing to offer advice on just about anything you care to ask.
LIKES: Coded barrier entrance and exit, clean landscaped site, quiet site after 10pm, excellent toilet/showers/washing/food prep/chemical disposal/bins etc all kept clean and tidy and serviced regularly. Even had hand sanitizer in the chemical disposal point - nice touch! Great dog walk which extends to various footpaths connecting to SW coastal path. Had a go a fishing in the beautiful lake (£9.50 for the day and no license required) and caught around 20 fish - kids loved the experience. Food vans (stone-baked pizza, fish and chips, seafood etc) arrived each night to give an alternative to cooking and reasonably priced.
DISLIKES: I am being really picky here, but the road approaching the campsite is a little narrow considering the amount of caravans, campervans using it - as well as the buses serving the nearby holiday parks. It. could be widened easily, but its only about 1 mile to the main roads and there are plenty of passing points.
We met with many fellow campers who told us they had been going here for years. Hope to go back next year but probably need to book early. Recommend this camping park for families and couples.
Warcombe Farm Camping Park: Thank you for such a great review Andrew - I will make sure our hard working staff see your kind words. We strive to provide an excellent holiday experience for our valued customers. You mentioned the access road to the park - as you know hundreds of caravans and large motorhomes go up and down the road to access both Warcombe and other parks - as you mention there are lots of passing places and there are rarely any problems as long as everyone takes care. In areas of outstanding Natural beauty there is huge opposition to changing our small roads and lanes - that is why Devon is so unspoilt. It's great to hear how much you enjoyed the lake and the fishing. Many children have learned to fish here and we hope that you and your family will enjoy many more holidays here at Warcombe.
