Combesgate beach is a pretty secluded beach located at the far right-end side of Woolacombe offering some attractive rock pools - ideal for children. It is the first true sandy beach as you walk down from Mortehoe to Woolacombe along the coastal road.
Combesgate is one of the Marine Conservation Society recommended beaches,. Flat golden sands, rocks to either side, a gentle waterfall to the rear, hidden in a little cut out.
The best time to visit is between low and mid-tide, when activities can include swimming, surfing, building sandcastles and exploring the rock pools. Be aware that access to the beach itself is via a number of steep, but well maintained, steps.
