From the sea off Combesgate beach

Combesgate beach is a pretty secluded beach located at the far right-end side of Woolacombe offering some attractive rock pools - ideal for children. It is the first true sandy beach as you walk down from Mortehoe to Woolacombe along the coastal road.

Combesgate is one of the Marine Conservation Society recommended beaches,. Flat golden sands, rocks to either side, a gentle waterfall to the rear, hidden in a little cut out.

The best time to visit is between low and mid-tide, when activities can include swimming, surfing, building sandcastles and exploring the rock pools. Be aware that access to the beach itself is via a number of steep, but well maintained, steps. Combesgate is probably not be the best option for families with push chairs or those with mobility in mind.

Wonderful!

We have just returned from a week long stay in our tent at this wonderful campsite. We stayed here for the first time last year and enjoyed so much about the site and the area that we decided to return again this year.

There is a good variety of pitches here so there is something to suit everyone, although if you haven't been before we found the staff to be very helpful on the phone on choosing a pitch.

The showers and toilet facilities are very spacious and are kept very clean and tidy and the majority of guests help them to stay that way. The only small disappointment was that there were no electric sockets for hair appliances in the shower block (although there are travel size hair-dryers 20p).

The bin areas are regularly emptied so we didn't encounter any problems with wasps etc. The small but well stocked shop sells fresh baked goods every day (which were very tempting) as well as other groceries.

The campsite is in a great location for some lovely walks and is less than a mile away from the traffic free Tarka cycling trail as well as the huge sandy beach at Woolacombe.

There are some visiting food sellers on different nights too which we made use of. Having waited over an hour and a half for our order the pizzas were OK, however the fish and chips were really good.

Overall the site is very clean and well kept, very friendly, helpful staff who clearly all work very hard and we would definitely stay here again if we were in the area. Keep up the great work!

Just returned home after a week long break at Warcombe Farm. What a great site, this was our first time camping for few years and the first time with the 'family'. Excellent facilities, toilets and showers always clean. Big well kept serviced pitches. Site staff always visible if needed, but we never did and they didn't bother visitors. No excessive site rules like some other sites seem to have and a very handy 12 noon departure time. Looking forward to our next visit.
