Brilliant site

Our second visit and each time we have stayed a week out of the main 'season'.

The toilet and shower blocks are spectacular - always warm, very large showers and spotlessly clean at all times. Very luxurious if camping in the cooler months as we mainly do.

Many of the pitches around the edges are landscaped with bushes or dry stone walling.

In the centre of the site is a fishing lake for those who want to partake, This is safely fenced off so that children don't accidentally roam in.

The site has very friendly owners, and you can buy essential things like wine, bacon, chocolate biscuits and milk (!) from the small shop in the office.

You can walk to Mortehoe over the cliffs from the site, which takes about 45 minutes and is very beautiful. You do need a car to get into Woolacombe to visit the stunning beaches.

Happy VW Camper

Fantastic!!

Where shall I start?! We are a family of 4 with 2 children ages 7 and 4.

The campsite has stunning views and has to be one of the best sites we have stayed on for facilities.
The showers and toilets were always clean and never had to queue despite it being the night of the season.

We only had a takeaway once and it was Chinese night, it was fabulous. Myself and my husband had the Chinese and the children had a chicken burger. We were pleasantly surprised that the chicken burger was a plain chicken breast on a roll ( not a pre bought dodgy burger!)which was perfect for our 2.

The play area was great for the children, again one of the best we have seen on a campsite.
The staff were all incredibly friendly and always acknowledged us and stopped to speak to the children.

The only negatives which are of no reflection on the site itself are: the distance to the beach, but this can easily be overcome. The first day we attempted to walk it along sandy lane and via Woolacombe bay holiday park. It was fine going took about 40 mins would have been a lot quicker but our little boy was just having 'one of those days'. coming back we decided to try the route coming back through Twitchen holiday park. It was tough as it was an incredibly hot day and we were all tired after spending all day on the beach. We got as far as Twitchen and then stopped for an Ice cream and my husband walked the rest and went and got the car to pick us up. The following day we enquired in the site shop and they gave us details of the bus, fantastic!!! It stopped right outside the site. They don't run regularly so you do have to work out your timings but well worth it!

I wouldn't allow the distance of the site from the beach deter you if you have young children as the site is definitely worth it and the bus is easy enough. You can park in Woolacombe but it's expensive and you need to get there early!

The only other slight negative which again is no reflection on the sure is it is exposed and can therefore be very windy at night. Quite bad at times but we have experienced this at other sites in Devon it's just what camping is about!

The woodland walk was fantastic too and a great idea.

Overall a fantastic break and a fantastic camping site with fantastic facilities and staff. Would definitely recommend it and would definitely go back.
